Life Curriculum ~ vol.11
Summery playlists, excellent journalism films and a great midweek dinner recipe.
As always, this week’s curriculum newsletter is full of things to do, make, watch, listen to and read. Thank you for being a subscriber of The Small Things!

My appreciation for alarm clocks was revolutionised by discovering the “silent sweep”. In the clock world (horology), a silent sweep is when the hands move in a constant sweeping motion rather than a tick, tick, tick, the most haunting, anxiety-inducing sound in the world.
This instantly changed my mind about having an alarm clock next to my bed, rather than my phone/Instagram. So this week’s “do” is to get yourself an alarm clock and leave your phone in another room.
So here are some designs you may love, with both silent sweep and mechanical options:
This Newgate design ($$) is so iconic they designed an emoji after it.
This simple box design ($) uses LED lights that turn off while you’re sleeping for a super minimal design.
This cute retro design ($) is completely battery-operated.
This Golden Snitch design ($$) was incorrectly categorised in the “kids” section at Pottery Barn.
This overachiever ($$$) simulates sunrise to gently wake you up, and also has different white noises to choose from to help you fall asleep.
