If you’ve been here for a while, you know I love a picnic. Eating and hanging out with friends and family in the fresh air is where it’s at. Even eating alone outside is considerably cheerier.
My preferred picnic menu is a bit charcuterie, a bit English ploughman's and a bit Italian antipasti. I guess I don’t want to narrow down my options too much. Although sweet and simple is also great – a riverside picnic of pre-batched martinis with chicken and celery sandwiches is a firm favourite Sunday plan around here.
This particular menu below veered into nostalgic territory pretty quickly. I come from a long line of picnickers and these are some of the greatest hits so far.
When working out a picnic menu, I need to remind myself that I really just want to eat with just one hand (so I can prop myself up with my other one), preferably without a plate but definitely no cutlery. Sometimes this means cutting things up at home before you leave so people can just grab and go. Sometimes it means individual serves. This menu offers both.
