Something about spring makes me want to spring clean myself.
Is that just me?
I feel the need to slough off physical layers, soak out stains, give everything a freshen up, wipe off old marks… in both myself and my home.
I find myself returning to journalling to process thoughts, going for long walks to reflect, and generally turning inwards in order to go outwards again. With so few months left of this year, I want 2023 to end with vibrancy. With vitality. With fresh thinking and doing.
Here are some links and suggestions to make your October vibrant too:
I have followed Dearly Bethany for a few years, and was intrigued when she launched Leo Sculpt, a fitness program devised by her superstar personal trainer. I love the way she thinks about movement and design and lifestyle – maybe the spring kickstart I need.
I’ve been making this recipe weekly due to popular request – a Caesar-style salad but with green beans. I pair it with a roast chicken to much fanfare.
When I moved into an apartment, I knew I would miss my sprawling herb garden. Geneva Vanderzeil’s tutorial on how to make a vertical herb garden has me inspired, although the brand she mentions no longer makes those garden pots. Does anyone know an alternative?
I’m always thinking of ways to freshen up areas of my home that I use most frequently, and my coffee station is one of those areas. A sweet mug rack ($) full of handmade ceramic finds ($) would be just the ticket.
One of my favourite apartment tours ever, this potentially led me into a false sense of security about apartment living. It’s Jackei Kai Ellis’ Parisian pied-a-terre when she’s not in Vancouver, so maybe that’s actually the dream!
Why eat off boring plates when you can eat off beautiful ones ($)?
All those walks require a gorgeous sun hat ($$$), preferably straw to attract those summer holiday vibes. (I’m thinking this will be perfect for my Egyptian visit next year.)
I know I already mentioned coffee, but a bright French press ($$) would also brighten up the daily ritual. Also perfect for tisanes.
In case you missed it…
Today’s Life Curriculum followed a similar vein of freshening up with healthy recipes, picnic ideas and a light playlist.
I spent hours thinking about what I consider my fridge essentials in the first of my Biased Guide Series. I shared my shopping list as well as weekly prep list to ensure you always have delicious things to reach for.
Date Night dissected Bianca in Brisbane, and I’ll be back again this month to feature another incredible venue into homewares, outfits and recipes.
Open Tabs was full of more recipes, books and homewares.
